RoofWatch Inspection App
Roofwatch is a mobile-friendly web app for assisting with roofing inspections. It walks facility managers through the process of inspecting their roof so they are more quickly able to address issues.

About the Problem
Benchmark Inc. strives to extend asset lifetime, manage risk, and reduce long-term costs for facility owners. By doing so, they enable the facility owners to feel empowered and confident in their property. Benchmark approached us with an idea: they wanted to build a tool to assist the facility owners in performing roofing inspections, allowing them to stay on top of any maintenance and address issues before they get out of control.
About the Solution
We worked with the team at Benchmark to create a web app that provides clear directions for the person inspecting the roof and allows them to collect crucial information to provide to contractors or warranty providers. The app not only informs the inspector what they need to be looking for, but provides them with guidance on how to safely navigate their roof. Upon completion, this information is then compiled into a report that can be used to inform roofing decisions. While building the app we stayed in contact with not only the Benchmark team, but a handful of local property managers. With their feedback, we made sure that RoofWatch was easy to use for anyone. This collaboration was highly important since it helped us see how people would actually be using the app.
In addition to the main RoofWatch inspection app, we also created a mapping tool that allows users of Benchmark's existing SITEMAN® product to define sections of a building's roof on a map. These roof section outlines are then used in the main application to select which parts of the building are to be inspected. This tool allows for augmenting the data stored in SITEMAN and connecting roof inspections to information already stored about the building and its roof.
