About the Problem
At NewBoCo Studios, we pride ourselves on our ability to tackle complex challenges and create innovative solutions for our clients. One such project that truly exemplifies our expertise is the development of a streamlined, user-friendly Mock Trial competition judging platform. Our journey on this project began when a familiar client approached us with a compelling problem they were facing. Colin and his team had encountered challenges while conducting Mock Trial competitons across the state of Iowa. These competitions, intended to educate and engage aspiring law professionals, required a robust and mobile-friendly judging system that could efficiently manage teams, handle roster management, and distribute ballots. Unfortunately their existing judging system fell short in meeting these needs, causing frustration and hindering the overall experience. We eagerly embraced the opportunity to transform their Mock Trial competitions into a seamless and intuitive process.
About the Solution
Our team quickly got to work, starting with analyzing the requirements while keeping in mind the ultimate goal of creating an efficient and user-friendly event platform. We recognized that leveraging modern web technologies would be key to achieving this vision. To fulfill this undertaking, we decided to build the app using ReactJS with Remix, Material UI, and PostgreSQL. ReactJS with Remix provided a solid foundation for crafting a responsive and interactive user interface that as well as efficient rendering and optimal performance. Material UI, known for its accessible design system and pre-built components, allowed us to deliver a mobile-friendly and consistent user experience. Underpinning the entire platform was a PostgreSQL database, which we strategically designed to accomodate the intricate relationships between teams, judges, and ballots, ensuring that each aspect of the Mock Trial competition judging could be efficiently tracked and managed.
Throughout the development process, we maintained close communication with Colin and his team. Our iterative approach allowed us to incorporate their feedback seamlessly, ensuring that the end product aligned with their expectations. The result was a robust, comprehensive, and user-friendly Mock Trial competition judging platform that streamlined the way judging was conducted.
